We've noticed that many Yodeck users don't know this feature exists, and honestly, it's one of those things you hope you'll never need, but you'll be glad it's already configured if you do.

Emergency Alerts let you instantly interrupt your normal content and display an important message on your screens. Instead of showing menus, promotions, or dashboards, your displays can immediately switch to emergency instructions during situations such as a fire, severe weather, a security incident, or an evacuation.

What makes it especially useful is its flexibility. You can:

Broadcast to every screen or only to specific locations (such as a particular building or floor).

Use one of the built-in alert types or create your own.

Display a simple alert, an evacuation map, a custom layout, or any content you've already created.

Edit the message before sending it and choose how long it stays on screen.

One small but important detail: after you configure Emergency Alerts, make sure to Push to Players. This downloads the alert content to each player, so when you need to broadcast an alert, the content appears almost instantly.

Have you set up Emergency Alerts on your account yet? If not, now might be a good time to take a look. 🚨

So the Display consists of some buttons across the top - Play stop pause volume, then some to filter the contents. Decades - 50s to today, then Music Genre. the left 3/4 of the screen below is the Words from the video. on the right is the songlisting. Interactively it works well in a yodeck web player. I have not gone farther to get it fully working on a TV, but it should work but requires good connectivity. Just need a mouse. works well with Karaoke KIng and some other youtube sites. Might be a fun way to do something after work or a special day. Index.html, a css file, some java to run the app , a json database of the song title, decade, genre and link on youtube.

I'm not a restaurant so I have a 5 week menu cycle for fall/ winter and spring / summer. This makes it easy to build a Custom Html5 app for yodeck with some help from copilot to massage the meals into a Json file and then a javascript and CSS and index.html with the data in the json embedded. I used to have 106 individual pages in a powerpoint that I exported as a JPG into yodeck and managed. now the JSOn is updated to keep the dates current about once a month. the logis is pretty simple Befor meals and after supper the meals and a disclaimer about different menus for different dietary needs is displayed. 10 - 12 seconds then the next meal and the disclaimer then the meals cycle back around. I use a color background to differentiate as well as the title of the meal. breakfast is a light blur, lunch is a light peachy color and supper is a light pastel green. All are chosen so Black text is easily readable. If this is of interest to anyone just message me back and Ill try to answer any questions. It is easily customizable. I manually go in and edit it for holidays and special meals.

So a typical menu screen will have the day and date, the meal Breakfast, lunch or dinner. I put a horizontal line across to divide the header from the meal items. The meal items are a bulleted list with a word wrap at the end of a word for easier readability.
I think its about 52 or 54 point serif font. Alternate items are a slightly smaller font and italicized. This is done in Javascript.

The json is embedded into index.html something like this:

MEALS_DATA = {
"cycle_length": 35,
},
"cycle_anchor": {
"day": 1,
"date": "2026-07-12",
"rollover_hour": 19,
"timezone": "America/New_York"
},
"initial_start_date": "2026-07-12",
"days": [
{
"day": 1,
"week": 1,
"date": "2026-07-12",
"weekday": "Sunday",
"meals": {
"breakfast": [
"Grits",
"Scrambled Eggs",
"Bacon (2) or Sausage",
"Butter"
],
"lunch": [
"Brown Sugar Meatloaf",
"Macaroni and Cheese",
"Stewed Okra and Tomatoes",
"(ALT) Tossed Salad / Dressing"
],
"supper": [
"Fried Catfish",
"Garnish: Lemon Wedge and Tartar Sauce",
"Red Beans and Rice",
"(ALT) Baked Potato Chips"
